Fukano started out her career back in the year 2009 after she graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in TV and Radio Broadcasting from San Francisco State University. Shortly after Fukano was hired at NBC for Wyoming, as the Fremont County Bureau Chief Reporter.

She was responsible for covering the entire western half of the state, as a solo one-man-band reporter. She covered the 2010 Fremont Co. floods, declared a disaster area by the president, a train derailment into a town’s water supply, and the president’s initiative to add more patrols to the Wind River Indian Reservation. During Lindsey’s time at NBC for Wyoming, Fukano won an award for 2011 Best Reporter by the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.

In the year 2011, Fukano was hired as the morning anchor/overnight producer for KEPR/KIMA Action News, in the Tri-Cities/Yakima area of Washington state. As the producer as well as the main anchor for the two-hour-long morning newscast, she was also responsible for making sure any breaking news was in her shows.

During both of her years at KEPR/KIMA, Fukano’s shows received Emmy nominations for the year 2012 & 2013 Best Morning Newscast; also the first time the Action News morning show had been nominated for the award.

From there, Fukano traveled back to California, to Bakersfield, where she became the debut anchor for Kern County’s only local weekend morning newscast on 23ABC KERO. While anchoring weekends, Fukano also reported during the week, and after a short time was promoted to anchoring weekdays.

There Fukano won the 2015 Associated Press Bill Stout Memorial Award for Excellence in Spot News. One of Fukano’s newscasts about mudslides, which engulfed over 100 cars on a local highway, won the award.

Being half-Japanese, she is heavily influenced by both Asian and Island Cultures, and cannot wait to begin her new adventure in the beautiful islands of Hawaii! Fukano will be the new co-anchor of Good Morning Hawaii with Maleko McDonnell, on weekdays from 5-7 am on KITV.
